WEEKLY MENU 02.13.22

It’s a doozy of a week, celebration wise, during the Weekly Menu 02.13.22. Planning makes the play work!

What’s going on during the Weekly Menu 02.13.22? Nothing major, it’s just the one-two punch of the Super Bowl and Valentine’s Day. Now, if you’re like us, we’re more observers during these two events.

Who’s playing in the Super Bowl?

We’re hockey people here. So we don’t even really have a favorite team, being at the epicenter of Pittsburgh, Buffalo and Cleveland. Sure, we’d root for the Steelers, Bills and Browns, if they were still in the running, but as you are probably aware, dear reader, none of these teams made the cut.

It’s Cincinnati versus Los Angeles. Neither is near and dear to us. (And frankly, except for “Cincinnati Chili” neither team lends much to the Super Bowl Menu.) So we’ll watch the Bengals play the Rams, but our hearts will be in the food and the commercials. Plus the pool – more on that in the Super Bowl Post. I think this is my year.

“Heart Day” ahead…

Valentine’s Day has always been pretty low-key around here. Bert and I have even agreed that the seriously overpriced cards are a nonstarter. Now, a little chocolate heart never goes amiss, but we’re not having a supremely decadent dinner like our Romantic Dinner at Home.

We’re not even having a joyful Valentine’s Day Breakfast like we did during the school days – now, everyone is headed out early to the gym (well, the boys are – count me out) and then on to work. Not a lot of breakfast eating goes on around here.

We’re being inspired by dogs.

Yep. Spaghetti and meatballs are on the Valentine’s Day dinner menu during the Weekly menu 02.13.22. Slurping optional. Plus garlic. Plenty of garlic – just make sure everyone eats it. The garlic bread links to a recipe from Guy Fieri, and I’m pretty sure the reason it’s so damn good is the shear amount of butter in it, but it’s a fabulous treat to go with the spaghetti.

I’m roasting double the chicken for the Buffalo Chicken Nachos during the Super Bowl, and we’ll use that in the Sheet Pan Quesadilla’s on Taco Tuesday. Planned leftovers.

Soup Friday is calling for “Fully Loaded Baked Potato Soup”. What’s that? Potato Leek soup served with baked potato fixin’s. Sour Cream, shredded cheddar, bacon bits and chives (or thinly sliced green onions).
