August is here. Is it just me or does July go unbelievably fast? We were just celebrating July 4th, and now we’re staring at the start of school. It was a great summer month though, and August will be another.

We’re mixing up a couple of favorites this week – the original recipe was for Margarita Pork, but on Sunday we’re subbing in chicken. Bert will grill those and the corn on the cob on our awesome Weber Grill. A good gauge of how much grilling we do is how often we have to replace the gas. We’ve already done it TWICE this season!

Weekly Menu 08.04.19 has something of an oddity for us – fish and chips. Baby Boy always ate fish (and a lot of sausage – he is a sausage machine) but our other boys were not fans. As they grew up though, and spent some time abroad for our middle son, they gave it a try and now are happy to eat it. Our oldest mentioned that he won’t cook it, but he will eat it. We’ll serve it with a standard accompaniment that became a huge favorite of Bert’s when we we were in Ireland: Mashed Peas.

When did the boys start trying new foods?

Veggies are still not super faves, but they all like salads (!) and will try most vegetables. Not broccoli, of course, but most other ones. It doesn’t seem that long ago that Baby Boy sat at the dinner table, stubbornly glaring at the single pea on his plate, for over an hour. Good times.
