WEEKLY MENU 01.30.22

It’s the dark of winter – and we’re dealing with it in the best way possible during the Weekly Menu 01.30.22.

HOW are we dealing with the deep, dark (sometimes depressing) winter during the Weekly Menu 01.30.22?

Party!

Dinner Party that is. They used to be ubiquitous – every weekend a crowd would end up at someone elses house. And party until the cows came in. Check out the little hat on the lady in the middle of the post picture. SHE is having a grand time. I’m planning on retro red lips and this addition to my outfit:

I am the first to admit I adore a restaurant. But how about mixing it up a little bit? The advantages to throwing a dinner party at your house are many and varied.

  • No need for reservations – you can invite as many or as few as you want.
  • You don’t need a babysitter (unless you want one): the kiddos can eat pizza with their buddies while the grownups enjoy their dinner.
  • It’s cheap! Especially if you do it like we’ve got planned. Who can afford meat for a crowd right now? If everyone brings their own, a party is affordable. Don’t get me started on how much cheaper a bottle of wine is than a glass at the restaurant.
  • Saves time too – no waiting for a meal to come to you.
  • It’s healthier and you can avoid allergy pitfalls.
  • You don’t have to worry about making too much noise!
  • Did I mention it’s cheap?

What’s the party plan during the Weekly Menu 01.30.22? Dark and Stormy Bring Your Own Steak (BYOS) Dinner. Of course, you can do any dinner party you want – but the Dark and Stormy aspect is enticing, no? (Affiliate links follow. See Disclaimer Page for details.) Plus our Betwixt and Between Baby Boy gave me Moscow Mule Mugs for Christmas, and I’ve been dying to try them. The Dark & Stormies will be great in them. A drink of the day screams “FESTIVE” don’t you think? Of course we’ll serve beer and wine as well.

We have menus for other parties that would work for mid-winter too:

Party and Celebration Check List

We’re following most of my normal party plan rules. Everything but the steaks will be prepared in advance, allowing me to enjoy the party too! How are we going to make the steaks since the grill is under 2 feet (literally) of snow? We’re going to use our fabulous 15″ Cast Iron Skillet to get a good sear on, then finish them in the oven with the Scalloped Onions, Twice Baked Spuds and Roasted Green Beans.

We’re adding in a vegetarian option for anyone not eating meat – the Vegetarian Stuffed Portobellos will be brilliant! Man, now I can’t wait for Saturday. You’re getting a two for one menu with this post. Enjoy.
