WEEKLY MENU 03.07.21

We’re drinking coffee and sipping tea during the Weekly Menu 03.07.21, but not with dinner!

How freaking cute is the coffee/tea mug on the Weekly Menu 03.07.21? It’s an animation of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, who lived between 1907 and 1954. She was a semi-tragic figure whose paintings were inspired by the nature and artifacts of Mexico. Her uni-brow was a striking feature. Read her Wikipedia Page about her fascinating life.

But the mug.

Bert and I each have our own mugs for morning beverages. My favorites include “Penn State Mom” and a colorful “New Orleans”. Why? They’re both huge, and hold my morning tea perfectly. I have a great Loyola mug too, but nothing from RIT. Hmmm. Looks like the OG Baby Boy fell down on the job.

Amazon has some super fun Frida Mugs. (Affiliate links follow – see Disclaimer Page for Details.) Honestly, though, mugs have to be part of an experience or gifted to make it to the front of my shelf.

We’re a mixed family – Bert is a coffee drinker, and I’m a tea drinker. I wasn’t always. The older I got, the more coffee messed with my stomach. DOLD always drank tea (with milk – none of that grimace inducing cream) and I figured I’d give it a try. I was already an iced tea drinker, so I fit right in. My tummy thanks me, and my plain jane black tea travels well.

Coffee is a quintessential American thing. It’s everywhere, and people drink it by the boatload. I was happy to hear, after I made my switch, that I wasn’t alone. One of my seesters is also a tea drinker, as is one of my best friends from grade school. I’m in good, but quiet company.

WEEKLY MENU 03.07.21

The Weekly Menu 03.07.21 is what you’re really here to see, so we’ll stop sipping and get to it. Winter is lingering around Erieland, so we’re going to pretend it’s summer to cope. Sunday dinner is a “Summer Picnic” – with grilled – on the stove-top grill pan – burgers. We’re having summer salads with the burgers – both pasta and veggie. The only thing we’re skipping are the bugs.

Italian Sloppy Joes are on this week again – they’re super easy and fast, because they’re basically meat sauce on Italian bread, liberally topped with mozzarella. How bad can that be?

And I lied when I said in the Weekly Menu 02.28.21 that we’d be eating healthy one of these Lenten Fridays. Frozen Fish sticks and Popcorn Shrimp are going into a big sammie with cheese and a bit of homemade tartar sauce. Delicious? Yes. Super simple, perfect for a Friday night after a long week? Yes. Good for us? Not so much. Two out of three isn’t bad though, from what I’ve heard.
