What IS the post picture on the Weekly menu 11.15.20? It’s of one of my favorite places on earth, and even I had to take a closer look.

It’s an aerial view of Niagara Falls.

I’ve always loved Niagara Falls. A question for the ages is what side of the falls is “better” – prettier, closer access, views. The Canadian side is more carnival like – famed Clifton Hill is full of touristy “museums” and attractions plus a huge variety of food. And a couple of casinos. The American side is more parklike. (Which isn’t a surprise – it is Niagara Falls State Park, after all.) You need to park and hike to the falls, at least a little ways. Once past the rapids, the area is hushed, with people looking at the vista with total awe. You’re so close to the water you can practically reach out and touch it. But be careful!

Gruesome Detail Ahead…

An estimated 5,000 bodies were found at the foot of the falls between 1850 and 2011.[10] On average, between 20 and 30 people die going over the falls each year.[11

The American side is shown on the far left side of this picture with the little “V” area. This picture shows the Horseshoe Falls – which are on the Canadian side. And they are pretty spectacular.

That “little boat” in the picture is actually a pretty gigantic Maid of the Mist. It goes well into the mist for a surreal falls experience.

it doesn’t look real sturdy, but they haven’t lost anybody yet. Or so I’ve heard.

The Horseshoe Falls are Canadian. The falls down the river a bit (near the Rainbow Bridge), which include the Bridal Veil Falls, are part of the American experience.

Both sides are worth a visit.

But right now, where you get to go depends on where you start. Once the borders are open again between the US and Canada, I’m feeling like a ride on the Ferris Wheel is in order.

Or maybe not.

What’s for eats on the Weekly Menu 11.15.20?

Sunday is a little different than our usual “Big Sunday Night Family Dinner” this week. The F1 races are on, but so are the Masters (Golf) and the Steelers (Football), so we’re actually planning on eating in front of the TV. Don’t tell the food popo.

I serve the Sweet & Spicy Popcorn with little bowls so everyone can scoop out some of the sticky-salty goodness for themselves. Then we’re having a creamy White Chicken Chili that we’ll serve in mugs. (Affiliate links follow, see disclaimer page for details.) And we will most definitely be on the couch.

The Ice Cream Pie made the cut this week for one reason only. We need to clean out the freezer before we buy the turkey.

Pizza Dippers are a throwback meal.

Way back. Like grade-school back. Yep. I’m taking food ideas from the cafeteria now. These babies can’t be easier – hot dog buns, covered with grated cheese and topped with pepperoni. Served with marinara for dipping. The garlic elbows have three ingredients: cooked elbow mac, butter, and garlic powder. Delicious and guaranteed to give everyone horrendous breath.

We’re trying something new with the “Hot Honey”. I saw Sunny Anderson talking about it and was intrigued, to say the least. We are a heat family, through and through. Tell me in the comments if you’ve ever tried it.
