Celebrate Summer Happy Hour

Celebrate Summer Happy Hour

Celebrate with this super easy Summer Happy Hour Menu~

Although it felt like it would never happen, it’s finally Summer! It’s the perfect time of the year to get together a couple friends on the patio or balcony and have a drink to celebrate. Summer Happy Hour is here!

This menu includes one of my favorite things: a simple drink of the day that guests can serve themselves. I painted an old kitchen rolling island (affiliate link) like this one, and put it on the patio where guests can serve themselves. Put out a variety of plastic glasses and some fun napkins along with a plastic pitcher (affiliate link) of the drink of the day. Plus the wine.

I am a little bit of a heathen when it comes to wine.

I’m perfectly happy with the boxed stuff. Apparently I don’t have that unbelievably picky palate that some people possess. Check out this cool serving set up from the Food Network – it was the hit of the party:

FLOWERPOT WINE DISPENSER

We cut up a large plastic planter that we didn’t use anymore and covered the top with flowers from the Dollar Store. Super cute and fun.

Summer Happy Hour calls for a variety of booze.

I’ll put out beer too, and offer up the contents of the liquor cabinet for any guest that would prefer something else. We don’t usually drink bottled water, because Erieland has the best water, but we’ll put some on ice along with a variety of other non-alcoholic drinks. I love this plastic drink tub (affiliate link) because we can put a bunch of bottles in it, ice it up and leave it alone. I like to put a trash can somewhere close to put the empties in.

PICNIC FOOD ROCKS FOR OUR CELEBRATE SUMMER HAPPY HOUR

We have a little something for everyone, food-wise; the sandwiches work for the guys because they’re sandwiches, and they work for the girls because they’re little. There are some easy munchies, and we’ve included a sweet. Yum!

QUARTERED SANDWICHES PILED HIGH ON A SERVING PLATE INVITE MUNCHING.

I like to make the sandwiches a couple hours before serving on a hearty but not overwhelming roll. Our grocery store has a mini-kaiser roll and it’s perfect: You don’t want the sandwiches made with bread that is too hard to bite into. Put 4 decorative toothpicks into the finished sandwich, and cut it in quarters. Boom! Sandwich bites.

Grill the portabello mushrooms and zucchini and let them cool before making the sandwiches.

I love entertaining.

A big part of the reason is that I have a couple of hard and fast rules that make celebrating fun for the host too:
